What I’ve Learned from Children: Playful Approaches to Early Childhood Music Classes
Dr. Joanne Rutkowski
Children have taught me a lot over the years!
Description:
As teachers, we have been taught to manage the classroom environment, lead children in music activities, encourage participation by all the children in our classes, and kindly correct inappropriate behaviors including musical responses. But is that how we nurture the language development of young children? Is that how we should nurture the musical development of young children? In this session, I will share my journey from elementary music teacher to early childhood music nurturer, offering strategies to more appropriately guide children’s musical development. Children have taught me a lot over the years! I’m happy to share their insights with you.
